St. Cyren had the advantage over Henry HavelocU as they raced through the cutting, but the pair were almost on terms again as they crossed the top stretch, and the latter had charge as tley turned for home, being lust clear 1 ot Ruaparaba and Stromness. At the distance Kuaparaha shot into the leaa, and drawing out in the run to the post, won easily by about a length and a-hali from Stroremess, which lv turn just beat Henry Havelock for second honours. Going along the back, Reporter assumed command, but as they ascended the hill the second time Lady Lanta was again the leader, being two lengths in front of Reporter, after which came Ma- : whiti and Silica. Lady Lanta fell at tbe second fence on the top of tbe bill. The mishap left Reporter in charge, and he was first over the hill and into the ! straight, with Mawhiti and Silica close I up. There was no change in the posidon as they raced through the cutting, but at the top stretch Loftus shot out, and had a couple of lengths' advantage of Tui Cakobau. after which came Silver Shell, Uranium, Loch Erne, with Celtic making a forward move. Loftus still had charge as they turned for home, and was in front at the distance, where Celtic, Loch Erne, and Uenuku threw out strong challenges, the last-named shooting out in the final hundred yards, and winning by a length from Celtic, which was half a length in front of Loftus. Loch. Erne was fourth, Lord Seaton fifth, and Certainty sixth. Tbe last two were Le Beau and Bully. Time, 1.43 4-5. Dividends, £64 10/ and £1 9/..
