"WITCHED" HORSES.
A r»markable story is told of a farmer I who lives near Hfracombe. who travelled jto Exeter to see "The White Witch" re- | specting the death of three horses. The j animals died in a mysterious manner, In I the first place sitting on their haunches, j and then lying on their sides. Two veteri I nary surgeons were unable to say what was the nature of the disease, and. after the death of the third horse, the farmer made the journey to Exeter. The woman known j as "The White Witch" visited the farm. j and told the man that he had undoubtedly J been "witched." The farmer firmly bei lieves that such was the case. In answer Ito interrogations by a Press man as to j whether he really believed in the saperstiI tion, he replied definitely, that he was j sure that it was right, adding, -'And It was J a good job I went, or else I should have | lost everything.
