FUTURE OF NEWFOUNDLAND.
VIEW OF MB. CHAMBEBIjAXN. SPEECH BY SIR R, BOND. (Received &23 ajn.) LONDON, June 0. Mr Chamberlain, in a letier to the organisers of a dinner to Sir Robert Bond (Premier of Newfoundland),, said: "1 trust the difficulties in connection with the fisheries question will be satisfactorily arranged, and that this will be the prelude to that union wita the great Dominion of the West which I believe will ultimately be found most conducive to the permanent welfare of Newfoundland. Sir Robert Bond remarked that the union of Newfoundland and Canada at present was neither desirable nor within practical politics. had withheld the discussions following j on his statement by describing the dis- j cussion as private. ]
