MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.

New May Qneen- —The 'winze on No. 4 lode, below No. 6 level, is now down 36ft below the level, and the quartz broken continues to' Show gold freely, while a little picked stone is selected at each breaking down- The crosscut for the St. Hippo reef, at No. 5- level, is being pushed on with a'l possible despatch, and a total distance of 333 ft has bow been driven in this direction,' leaving a further 150 ft yet to drive to intersect the reef. The country, which for the most part has hitherto been of a very tignt nature and difficult-to-work, has now. im-. proved soEewnat so that better progress may be expected in future. Operations in the stopes on the No. 4 and branch lodes are still being carried on as usual, and are producing a' steady supply of ore, on .which the battery is employed.

•New Moanztalarl. —The winze on the Cambria reef, below the old No. 4 level, has now been sunk to a depth of Sift- The prospects being met with are still encouraging, a quantity of good mineral being (Ustributed through the quartz on the western side of the winze. The appearance of the reef at this point warrants the continuation of this work, in the hopes of further' improvements taking place. Crushing was commenced yesterday at the May Queen battery, on a parcel of 20 loads of quartz accumulated from the various prospecting works throughout the mine. Bonanza. Good progress is beins made with the work of driving the main level to cut the reef prospected along its outcrop on the surface of the Bonanza mine, and a total distance of 151 ft has been driven. As it was calculated to intersect the reef at 240 ft this leaves a further 89ft to drive. The heavy country that has been encountered for the past lew weeks, has now been passed through, and the country in the face is now a good firm'sandstone. Several small leaders hare been intersected during, the past week, and it is quite probable that other quartz bodies will be met with, before the miin reef is reached.

Sunbeam. —At No. 2 level -west the reef Is 2ft wide, and of slightly poorer quality. Stoping operations have been canrfea on over the back of this level. Owing to the scarcity of miners the mill cannot be kept going fox more than two shifts pet'aav. During the -week 57 tons of ore were crushed, yielding 50oz 13dwt of amalgam making a total of lO4oz 13dwt on hand. Concentrates accumulated for tue week amoriot Wi ton 6001b, valued at £21 8/ per ton, the total dn hand being 2 tons 8001b. Asstf£*r©m the lip of the box give a value of £1 16/8 per ton. It is still a Srst-elass description of good blocty sandstone. >».- .- New DarL-JThe greater portion of the ground has been taken out of the chamber, and the shaft will now require to be repaired dwm to this level., -Thel winding shaft will also -want_new ttober for about 2oftl ■ Below the timbers appear I are '•»« over SO, .tew coin^Bx'^

battery from No. 4 level. Two men are still employed renovating the battery, fixing the vanner tables, etc. As there is already a liarge Quantity of quartz to hand, there is no vfork going on in the and there is not likely to be any until the engine arrives.

Old A'burnia.—Very good progress has been made with the extension of the main tunnel this week, a distance of 12ft having beea driven. There is no change in the country passed throngh. Whiter Ind milder sandstone is now jiaking in the face.
