The opening soiree of the Otahuhu United Baud of Hope took Friday night last in the Masonic Hall. The children and friends sat down to a well spread tea, ■which had been provided from the funds of the Association, this being Held in stead of the annual picnic. A public meeting was held afterwards, and the hail was well filled, Mr Saunders, the president, presiding. Musical items were rendered by children and friends, and addresses were given by Rev. A. Doull, M.A., and Mr S. Logan. At a committee meeting held afterwards it was decided to represent the Band of Hope at the forthcoming convention in Auckland.

', Harvest Festival Services -were held in .the. Otaauhu Methodist Church yesterday. The church presented a very pretty appearance. There was au abundant supply of fruit .vegetables in front &f "the pulpit, whilst from, the reading desk were suspended some luscious bunches of grapes The oaten sheaves were tastefully iateraiLxed with the greenery, and great credit Is due to those who worked so strenuonsly.
