LAWN TENNIS.
.As amateur championships of England return the substantial revenue of about £3000 per annum, objections are being raised to the All England Club assuming control of the money. It has been pointed out that there is no earthly reason why the lawn Tennis Association of England should not control the championships. On the other hand, it is argued that All England Club brought the championships into existence; still, the association fails to accept this as a valid reason why the championship should not be controlled by it. The dispute is somewhat similar to the recent cricket dispute in Australia, and there is every appearance that something of the kind will eventuate in England with regard to tennis. Dr. Nedwill, of Christ-church, has been elected president of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association for the ensuing year. H. A. Parker, the ex-New Zealander, meets Norman Brookes in the West Australian championship tournament thin week.
