ABANDONED WELSH MINER RESCUED.

CANDLES AS FOOD. After being imprisoned nearly six days in the flooded Caradoc Vale Colliery, Wales, two missing miners were rescued alive. The rescue just before midnight caused the wildest excitement In the district. All hopes of anyone having survived the inundation had been abandoned, when the bodies of three of the six men cut off by the inrush of water were recovered. The rescued men were discovered huddled in a corner In the old workings. .Stephens, Kicbards. and Hathaway reached the old workings through a hole made by the flood of water. The three men were together - until Saturday night, when Hathaway wandered away from his companions. The three men were without lights and without food duringtheir vigil. They spent the day in groping about the workings seeking for a way out. At night they returned to two trams, which served'as a landmark. At last Hathaway became delirious and was missed. It is feared he wandered away and fell into a waterhole. The two men saved had appeased their hunger on one or two candles they had with them. They were found in a level where there was not room to stand upright When the rescuers came Staphena simply aaid, "VJ, 1 an glad _-*-A--H-t* same*"
