GREY LYNN TRAM SERVICE.
PROPOSED EXTENSION TO RICHMOND. "Messrs .John Karrcll (Mayor), Creamer, and H. R. Irwin (Town Clerk) representing the Grey Lynn Borough Council, ami Messrs (. Norgrovc, Holdsworth, and .\lc.YLusters representing the residents of Richmond, were met by Mr Paul M. Hansen (Managing Director of the Tramways Company) yesterday afternoon, when the proposed extension of the tramline to Richmond was fully discussed. The meeting took place at the Archhill terminus, and the provision of a shelter shed was suggested by Mr Creamer. Mr Hansen said bis Company had declined similar demands from other sections of Cue service, and he could not consider the matter. The party then traversed the route of the proposed extension on loot.
Mr Farrel) pointed out that, a great increase of population had taken place during the past few years, and dreYv attention to the increased number of buildings in the district. Mr Hansen expressed himself as favourably impressed with the project, and- promised to write to the Council embodying his vieYvs in time for their next meeting. Tbcy might rest assured that he would report favourably to the English office of his Company, and he hoped the work would be carried out at the same time as the Mount Eden line. The party were afterwards hospitably entertained at afternoon tea by Mrs Norgrovc. Mr Fa.rrcll thanked Mx Hansen for the manner in which he had met the deputation and learned their wishes. He was sure Mr Hansen would not neglect the interests of the district. Mr Norgrovc, as representing the Richmond residents, also spoke in a similar strain. The meeting terminated with a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Hansen for liis courtesy, and to Mr and Mrs Norgrove for their hospitality.
