Company with reference to Ibe vehicular ferry service and the use of the s.s. Condor was considered. hi moving that the Jetter be referred to the Works and ffariff Commit tee the chairman said that some of the statements contained in the letter were not correct. Some eighteen months or two years ago the Works and Tariff Committee visited the sites which were considered suitable. They selected one site, on the low-lying ground near the Railway Wharf, but the Company declined to accept it. They practically said thftt the site was too lav from the centre of (heir business, and the only site I hey were prepared to accept was alongside l lie present lee. The Board did not consider it advisable to erect stages there in view of the fact that the permanent counter-1-i.ise stages were to be erected on the western side of ihe wharf. He considered that the Hoard aeled wisely in i .'fusing to erect stages in a situation where I hey wore likely to become permanent. He considered that the Comp'.mv having declined the offer, the Houru had gone as far as it could, but i.i give v definite answer to the ques- ■ a-.-ked in the letter, he moved that :■■ ue referred to the Works and Tariff Committee, the Engineer to report.
