HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MARKET CABLEGRAM. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Monday. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablesram from the High Commissioner in London, dated .Tune 17:— The mutton market is firm and there is better demand. Heavy Canterbury weights are quote.] at Sgd per lb; average price of North if land mutton, ".id for best quality only. 3Jd for second-class quality. River Plate ruutron is quoted at Sid for light weights and ojd for heavy weights. There is good demand for nil lamb. Stocks on hand are heavy and widely distributed. Average price of Canterbury lamb is 4ld; other brands. 4Jd. The beef market is quiet and firm. There is no change in prices. The butter arrivals are very light aGd the market is firm at 103/ for choicest New Zealand brands. Danish Is quoted at 1112/ and Siberian at 07/ per cwt. The cbeesp market is steady and there are only small supplies on hand. White Is qnoted at 65/; coloured makes, 63/ per C"t. Hemp is firm, with no change in price. The cocksfoot market is steady, "the demand being only moderate. Average price of 17ib bright clean-dressed New Zealand seed, 47/ per cwt. There is fair demand for better grades of kauri gum. The following are the latest onotations:—Ordinary to fair three-quarter scraped, £6 10/: fair half-scraped, SO/; brown, fair half and three-quarter scraped, 83/; brott-n pickings, common to good, 47/; bush, fair to good pale and amber, scraped, £7 10/ per cwt; stock in hand, 1122 tons.
