SHOOTING FATALITY.
SPORTSMAN SHOT WITH HIS OW» GUN. A shooting accident which occurred at Hokianga Heads last Friday resulted in the death at the Rawene Hospital lata last night of a Maori named Edward Boyce. The deceased had gone out shooting with a party of neighbours, and brought down a'pigeon with one charge from Ms double-barrelled gun. The bird fell amongv some vines, and Boyce attempted to extricate it by shaking the branches with the stock of his gun, holding the weapon by the barrel. The remaining charge then went off, entering the unfortunate man's chest. He was taken to Rawene Hospital as soon as possible, and attended by Dr. Gato.- While in the hospital he stated that the affair was a pure accident, and the police are satisfied that this- was the case. Constable Fry, of Rawene, has reported the sad affair to the coroner.
