County Council will be held at the County Offices, Paimerston Buildings, Qqeen-street, Auckland, on FRIDAY, the first day of June, 1006, at 11 .a.m., -when tie following Resolutions passed at a Special Meeting of the said Council, held on Friday, the sixth day of April, 1906, will be submitted for confirmation as Special ! Orders:—(a) ■•■• That Clause 4 of By-law No. 3 of the Chairman, .Councillors and Inhabitants of the County of Waltemata. made by special order adopted at a special meeting of the Council convened for that purpose on the 7th October, .1904, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the 'oaiicil held on the 23rd day of November, 1904, be revoked, and ia lieu thereof the following Clause shall from henceforth be read and construed as aud shall form part of the said By-law aud that this Resolution do operate as a special order: ' For each such license there shall be paid to the County Clerk the following fees, that is to say-:—For every four-wheeled cab, dray, waggonette, spring cart (the body of which exceeds 3 feet iu-width and 5 feet iv length), one pound per auuum; for every hansom cab, 10/ per annum; for every motor omnibus. £5 per annum; for every motor car not being a motor omnibus, every other omnibus other than a motor omnibus and for every brake or drag, £1 10/ per annum; for every timber carriage, lorry, van, waggou, or trolley, £2 per annum: for every vehicle not hereinbefore nigetioned. 1/ per annum:" The object of By-law No. 3 is to prevent unlicensed vehicles using any of the said County roads and for appointnig the several sums to be paid to the County Fuud for the licensing of vehicles as mentioned in the By-Jaw, (b) "That the Waitemata'Counfy Council hereby make a By-law drawn for that purpose- under the provisions of 'The Public Works Act. 1905,' ' The Counties Act. .1855.' and of every other power thereunto enabling, prohibiting, ' heavy traffic' and any traffic which may from time to time be declared to be ' heavy traffic' by Order-iu-Council. along any roads within the County of Wnitemata during the mouths of May to September inclusive be adopted and passed and that this Resolution do operate as a Special Order." The object of this By-law is to prevent heavy traffic, as defined by Section 138 of the '• Public Works Act. 1903," being engaged ;d, upon or along any road, bridge, feny or ford under the care, control ov. ma'tetfement of the Wakemata County Council 'and within the County of Waitemata, during the months of Mny to September, inclusive in any year. Also to provide for the marking of the weight of such vehicle using the Counlr roads on such vehicle and to provide that the weight of any load may be ascertained by cubic measurement as set forth in the By-law. A penalty of a sum not exceeding £20 is provided for any breach of the By-law requiring marking of the weight end £5 for any other breach.
