UP TO DATE WK\"S THE STEEPLE' CHASE.

SYDNEY, April 21. The A.3.C. brought their autumn meeting to a conclusion to-day In fine weather, and there was a record attendance at Randwick. The Auckland horse Up to Date was sent out a warm favourite for the Steeplechase, in which he had the. stiff Impost of 12.12. The betting was evens on Up to Date, 7 to 2 against Merry Jest, 6 to 1 Auriculum. Grattan was in charge uutil after passing the treble the second time, with the others In closo proximity. Coming down the hill Up to Date took the lead, and from that out maintained his advantage and won easily by six lengths. Time 7.25. Gladsome being struck out of the A.J.C Plate, there was very little to rivet attention in that event, the race being regarded as entirely M the mercy of Tartan. The son of Lochiel scored an easy victory ever the pair that opposed him.
