! Private English letters state that Tartars, led by Government agents and police officials, have bombarded and fired a number of Armenian houses at Ashuggaris T in ithe Caucasus. J The defenders, including a considerable proportion of women, fought desperately with revolvers and daggers, but hunJ dreds were massacred, including large I numbers of children. None were allowed Ito survive, and the soldiers and police I did not interfere. Similar scenes have occurred at AnI dush. and other places.
