Mutual Amenities in New York. XEW YORK, April 2. The Pilgrims' Club of New York gave la banquet to Earl Grey (Governor-Gen-eral of Canada). Mr. Elihu Hoot (United States Secretary of State) promised to try and get rid of all boundary questions between I the United States and Britain. He de- | dared that wherever the British carried I their laws, institutions, and customs Americans breathed freely. Mr. J. H. Choate said Canada and the United States had one civilisation, one I law, one hope, and one aspiration. They ought to be able to settle all differences. Earl Grey besought the friendly and I powerful assistance of the United States in realising the destiny of Canada. He was convinced that the"United States did I not desire to annex Canada.
