W.C.T.U. CONVENTION.

GREYMOUTH, Friday. The W.C.T.U. Convention resumed this afternoon.
Miss L. M. Smith having been reappointed editor of the "White Ribbon," and Mrs. H. Hill business manager, a resolution was passed heartily thanking Miss Smith for the excellent work done by her in the dual capacity, and attributing the success of the paper largely to her efforts.
It was resolved: "That we emphatically protest against the Colonial Secretary granting charters for the sale of intoxicating liuors to clubs at Masterton, Feilding, and Hastings, when all these districts record a majority vote in favour of no-license."
It was also resolved that the Imperial Government be- urged officially to disoountenanee the traffic in opium.
Mrs. Whitby's report of work among seamen showed that the Dunedin and Timaru unions own the sailors' rests in their respective districts.
The report of home meetings was received.
Miss Webb presented the report on purity work, very favourable accounts being given of Mr. G. H W. Bligh's work.
An able paper, entitled, "Women on Charitable Aid Boards," was read. Miss Roberts moved, and the convention carried, resolutions affirming the desirability of public institutions for the care of men, women, and children being governed by boards composed of both men and women; that separate homes should be established where men and women destitute of sexual control may be detained and cared for mentally and physically, and that such homes should be in the country, where rural occupation could be provided; also expressing appreciation of the report of Mr. Bishop, . SJM., in the recent Walt-ham inquiry.
