AUCKLAND PUBLIC WORKS.

« (By Telegrapn.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. Mr Baume interviewed the Minister of Public Works this morning. He was informed that the plan and specifications for the Hoteo bridges would be in hand, as the completed tenders were invited. The Minister further states that at the end of last month an exclusive staff of 371 men was employed on the Helensville North line, and that good progress was being made on the Main Trunk line. The Government have close on 1700 men now employed on these works, and would like to obtain more men. They could find employment for 500 additional navvies.
