GERMAN MINISTER ATTACKS DEMOCRACY.
BERLDT, February 8. The Imperial Minister for the Interior (Count yon Poeadowsky-Wehner), speaking in the Reichstag yesterday, created excitement with a violent attack on the Social Democrats. He said that Bismarck fell into a great error in applying universal suffrage to the German nation. Social democracy was an absolute contradiction to the federal principles of the Empire. Before more working men could be represented in the Prussian Diet, they must become infinitely more mature politically. They must recognise the state of society, and reduce their claims to what are economically possible.
