CHARGE AGAINST SANITARY CONTRACTOR.

At the Police Court this afternoon, before Mr Dyer, Frank Jagger, sanitary contractor, was charged With | depositing filth in the harbour at Har- ; kin's Point, below high-water mark, and ' also with carrying on an offensive trade established in breach of the Public Health Act. Mr Mays prosecuted, and Mr Skelton appeared for the defendant. Mr Mays, for the prosecution, stated that the defendants had been brought up several times before on similar charges. The settlers at Harkin's Point were annoyed intolerably by the depositing of this filth upon the foreshore, the pans often being emptied on the breach in such numbers that there was practically no space about the beach in question that it. was possible to walk upon without coming into contact with this offensive matter.
