INFECTIOUS DISEASES HOSPITL.
The substance of Dr. Valentine's report of advice, delivered to the Auckland Hospital' Board in committee yesterday afternoon, was as follows: That temporary buildings be erected at Point Chevalier to treat small-pox and plague cases or suspects of those diseases; and that for the treatment of minor eases accommodation to last 15 or/20 years be made in the present Hospital grounds on the site of the old refuse destructor as follows:—Scarlet fever 12 beds, diphtheria 6 or 8 beds. Separate accommodation for typhoid fever casesNo special report at present as to tuberculosis and phthisis. The recommendations were unanimously approved by the hon. medical staff. In the course of brief discussion, members remarked that these were the lines which the Board members had advocated for a long time past, and the sanction of the medical experts to the proposals was a subject for great congratulation. Action was deferred, Dr. Valentine promising to submit his report in writing.
