THE CHARGE AGAINST A RESTAURANT KEEPER.
__*v- tTo th e. Edltor.l Sir,—We as workers in the railway oyster saloon wish to object to "white slavery," as printed in your paper.; last night.. We wish to statej as workers there, we have- never done more than nine hours a day.; including meals. If we wished, to work ten in one day we could take it off the next day—in fact, there is no work done in the shop after nine a.m. until. eight p.m. During, that tiriie we can do what we can either take our rest. or go for a walk, or enjoy ourselves or otherwise. As to selling tobacco, we have never seen any in this shop since we have been here, only for Mr. Franchi's private use. I can state as shopmSh I have, never sold tobacco, and never saw Mr. Franchi do so. We are the oldest employees since he first opened his saloon in' Lower Queen-street. If this is "white slavery," God help black slavery.—-We remain, as employees. - "'
