(By Tel»|rraph—Pr«fls AssooWon.t DROWNED WHILE FISHING. MASTERTON, this day. Wm. Apperley, aged 24, was t'rowned in the Ruamahanga river yesterday while out fishing.. Hie companions had left him in order to go further down stream. It is surmised that he had one of the fits to which he was subject, since he was a strong swimmer, and it was unlikely that he should meet hi* death otherwise. IMPORTANT PENSION DECISION. WELLINGTON, this day. The Chief Justice gave judgment today for the plaintiff .in the ease brought by the widow of the late Mr Fastier, ot the Railway Department, to obtain payment of £255 as part of the whole amount due to her from the Railway Superannuation Fund. His Honor held that the Civil Service Acts of 1871 and 1886, did not destroy the privileges granted by the Civil Service Act Of 1866 and the Government Railways Act 6f 1887. ■ -'-*•■ BLENHEIM, this day. Anglers in this district are experiencing a successful'season. Big trout are caught frequently, the weights ranging up to seventeen pounds.
