HIS MAJESTY'S.
Standing room was again barely obtainable by large numbers who visited,: | His Majesty's T*»eatrt last evening. The programme submitted was met with demonstrative signs of approval on the I part of tie audience, a' number of pictures representing scenes in connection with the British navy being particularly ' responsible for enthusiastic recognition; Several local studies were intro- : duced, including harbour scenes in the vicinity of the Queen-street wharf, the procession of cadets, and the Labour Day display. The Brescians' entertainment was, as. usual, very heartily appreciated. Tc-night is the last of the season, in the course of ■which over ;56,000 Aucklanders have visited His Majesty's. . -^ OPERA. HOUSE. The popularity of the Opera House as a place for an evening's entertainment is always emphasised on any occasion suggesting a holiday, and last night's was no exception to the rule. This evening, in addition to the weekly change of programme, a special attraction is announced in the first appearance of Cleopatra, a snake enchantress, who handles and fondles in a nerve thrilling way a number of reptiles, including ausfc eondas, pythons, boa constrictors, alligators ,and crocodiles. Another first appearance is billed in Bonita, described as a champion lady rifle shot, and who is accompanied by Carlos, the human target.
OLYMPIA RINK,
The attendance was- large at each of the three sessions at the Olympia Rink yesterday, the evening attendance at this popular resort being specially large. The first boys' race of the season, a half-mile handicap, will he run uext week, the prize being a handsome gold medal. The management also announces that from Monday next special concessions will be made to lady visitors.
