DAIRY PRODUCE.
(To trie Edltor.l Sir, —With your kind permission I would like to make a few remarks about the price of dairy produce. The cheaper the grocers can sell butter and ■'■ggs the better fot themselves, for they can sell more eggs at ninepence per dozen than at a shilling or over, and they get the same amount of profit. The same with butter and cheese. J suggest that the producers should get a central shop of their own in each business, and have qualified attendants, where they would not be expected to take half of the amount of their produce out in groceries as is often done. 1 have known a farmer after a great struggle to get four pence a pound for a good sample of cheese, and the grocer selling the same cheese for one shilling per pound. That was in Christehurch. I think it is time there was some sort of a union amongst producers; and the same applies to fruit and vegetables.— I am, etc,
