The L'niversit)- Council met yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs tier. Peacocks tin the chair). T. U. Wells, M.A. X Hou. J. A. Tole. Bishop Neligan, and the Rev. W. Simmonds. Coal Prospecting Tenders.—Tho Taupiri South Coal Co., Ltd.. tendered for the right to prospect tor coal ou certain sections b«>loiigrin? to the Council at Taupiri.—Referred In th-.» Property Committee, with instrnetions to report at the next meeting of the Board. In respect to der from Mr Jobn Dunn, of Hnntly. it was decided to comnrunicate with him re a modification of his tender respecting the areas tendered fcr. Fines od Overdue Fees.—The Council decided to adopt the recommendation of th-e professors, that for the future fines of 2/0 per month should be Imposed on all overdne fees, with the difference that fourteen days' grace be allowed instead of a montl. "This rule is to come inro farce next; session. Accountancy Certificates.—ln connection with a suggestion that certificates in accountancy should be issued by the University, it was resolved, on the motion of Bishop seligan, that the registrar should ask the lecturer in economics to obtain ths opinion of the Accountants' on the matter, and forward a full report thereon to the nest meeting of the Conncil.
