SEVERE REMARKS BY A MAGISTRATE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.; IXVERCARGILL. this day. Seven youths were before the Court to-day on a chanre of using behaviour calculated to create a breach of the peaue on a recent Sunday. The facts were that a young man was out walkin? with a lady, when the awu.eed squirted water on them from a toy pistol, and on remonstrance being made twice knocked the man down. One defendant was discharged. Ke<r»rdinar the other six. the magistrate i Mr McCarthy* said the accused were acting in concert, and were all responsible for the acts of particular members. The attack made on Glover, who was escorting a votmjr lady. was unpardonable, cowardly, and brutal, and steps must be taken to put a stop to conduct of This outrageous xort. The defendants werp sona of respectable parents, but they di<i not know how To behave themselves, and he proposed to give them some indiicement to behave better in fnture. Each defendant was H-nod £5 and ordered to find sureties for £30 to keep the peace for twelve months.
