The meetings are primarily intended to be the vehicle of the ex- : pression of views by laymen to laymen upon all topics in which religion plays an essential part. The mass meeting on October 12 at the Choral Hall will be addressed by the Bishop of the diocese, Major-General Babington, and Mr C. J. Parr. His Worship the Mayor -will preside. Last year the meeting was so inconveniently prolonged that on the next occasion the time-table will be strictly enforced. People will thus be able to get home early. The Eden Terrace Road Board, at a meeting held last night, passed a resolution similar to that passed by the Grey Lynn Borough Council, recommending the Government to reimburse Dr. Hardie Neil's expenses in connection with the late Auckland Hospital inquiry. At the Supreme Court to-day the Registrar granted an order making absolute a decree nisi in the case of Lillian Beece Fleming v. Joseph Alexander Fleming. Mr Singer appeared for the petitioner.
