The lire brigade were oa the s<-en«? promprij-, and saeeeeded ia extinjjnishins th.c lire before mncJi damage was done. I regret to report the death of Mr John .Russell, an old resident of Wailir. Deceased had b&ea ill for some time- He leaves a wife and grown up family. Owing to deceased being a member of tne Miners' Union, their flag was flown, to-day half mast.
