The return from the Waihi mine for the past month beat all previous records, bullion worth £55,310 being won from 22,-153 tons of ore. The increased value of the ore treated this time is shown by the fact that the previous month's optpat was £52.100 from 23,076 tons of ore. It will thus be seen that this month, although 623 tons kss of ore were treated, the bullion won exceeded that for the previous month by £3210. A RECORD RETURN. £10,510 FOR THE MONTH. I During the month of March the Talisman Consolidated, Ltd., crushed and treated 3550 tons of ore for a return of bullion valued at £10,510 7/3, the average yield being £2 19/2' per ton. The costs for the past month were £1 10/, per ton, made up as follows: — Mine development, 6/10; mining, 10/2; milling, 11/3; general expenses, 1/10. This return shows that ore of greatly improved average value was treated for the present yield, as although only 130 tons extra of ore were treated this month as compared with February, the output of bullion shows an increase of £4,142 3/1. COROMANDEL. this day. Messrs. E. A. Daldy, mine manager, and D. V. Allen, Director of the Coromandel School of Mines, inspected this mine at Owera, and also the battery. The visitors were shown over the workings by Messrs. Barron Bros., prospectoi-3, and were pleased with the prospects of the property, and they are of opinion that the outlook is very promising as the main reef outcrops at several places, and 13 a well-defined body of ore. The Lord Plunket syndicate have an option over the Owera battery, which is not very far distant from the mine. WAIHI REEFS EXTENDED. WAIHI. this day. The Waihi Reefs Extended claim, which contains 320 acres adjoining the Waihi Extended and Pride of Waihi properties on the northern boundary line, is likely to be worked by outside capital before long. Mr. S. Draffin, mine manager, recently received word from n gentleman at present in England to forward him plans, reports, eta. of this property. The claim is owned by an Auckland and Waihi syndicate. WAIHI EAST. ' WAIHI, this day. The owners of this claim intend to test the ground as soon a? sufficient capital is- raised. The reef which outcrops on tEis property is reported exceptionally large, being 75ft from wall to wall. Good assaye have been obtained .from the surface.
