PREMIER AT TAURANGA.

A FIFTY MILE JQUENEY. (By Telegraph.—Own Reporter.) TAURANGA, Friday. The Premier, accompanied by Mr. W. H. Kerries, member for the Bay of Plenty, and Mr. D. Asher, drove from Waihi to Tauranga to-day, breaking the 50 mile journey by a couple of hours' rest at Katikati. Tauranga was reached after an interesting drive about halfpast three, Mr. Seddon being welcomed by "the Mayor, the Rev. C. Jordan, and the members of the Borough Council, who drove out to meet him. At the Star Hotel, where he is putting up, he was welcomed by a gathering of citizens and by the officers of the local lodge of Oddfellows, Bros. Norris, C.IL, giving him a greeting on behalf of the lodge. The Premier briefly thanked the gathering for the warmth of their welcome, and then proceeded to Mount Maunganui. -where he was the guest of the OddfpHmvc -f a picnic organised in honour of the patron saint of Ireland, a general holiday being observed. Mr. Seddon presented the prizes previously won at the sports, and then delivered an address on the lines of that given at Motutapu, pointing out the value of friendly societies' membership, and urging his hearers, and particularly those of the working class, to join these institutions. Hearty cheers were given for the Premier, and for Mrs. Seddon. who made many friends in Tanrauga when the Premier was here on his health cruise. The party returned to town at seven p.m., and in the evening was again the guest of the Oddfellows at a social tendered in his honour. Mβ. Seddon has been informed that Mrs. 'Seddon, who suffered a chill while journeying to Auckland, and has been' far from well, is now recovering at Rotorua, Taut will have to undergo a course of treatment before she fully recovers.
