AUSTRALIAN NEWS.

(By Mail.) PERISHED FROM THIRST. MELBOURNE, January 12. A telegram from Swan Hill states that a publican named Haywood, at Naming, reports that the dead body of a man has been found about a chain away from the inside road leading from the interior of the mallee to Narrung. The body, which is being watched over by a dog, is clothed only in a pair of trousers, and indications point to the strong probability of the man having died from thirst. The track is waterless, and the heat apparently overpowered the unfortunate man before he could reach Narrung. which was only six miles distant.
