AN ENTERTAINER'S BANKRUPTCY.
THE FINANCIAL DFFICL'LTIES OF PERCY DENTON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTOHL'RCH, this day. A meeting of creditors in the estate of Mr W. Percy Denton Cardew. vocalist, known to the musical public of New Zealand as "Percy Denton." was held in the Official Assignee's office here yesterday. The bankrupt's statement showed f that there were liabilities amounting to £630 5/, with no assets, and disclosed creditors in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. The bankrupt attributed his position to illhealt'h during the past two years. A creditor said that he did not think Mr Denton had acted as he should. In answer to questions, Mr Denton said that he had recently been employed for six weeks by Mr P. R. Dix at £0 per week. Two benefit concerts had been tendered him during the past year, the first netting some 27/. and the second resulting in a loss. The Official Assignee said that he would call another meeting, if required to do so by the creditors. It seemed that Mr Denton Cardew had been spending very freely for years past. Various questions' were asked by creditors in regard to Mr Denton Cardew's income and expenditure, and the bankrupt stated that his expenditure had necessarily been hisrh. * w
