MINING AT QHI|s T SAIURI. THE YEARS RESULTS. Now that the returns for the yfar from the leading mines in the Ohinemuri County are pretty well completed, it is interesting to note the yesufts. Only one more return has yet to come in, from the N.Z. Crown Mines, the rest of the companies having ail had their final clean-up for the year just closed. From the figures appended it will be seen how satisfactory the year's work lias been as laf as the Waihi, Talisman Consolidated, and Komata Reefs mines are concerned. The Crown and Waitekauri, on the other hand, have not done so well, but the falling off sq far as the totals are concerned, is amply compensated by the record yields from the Waihi mine. This year the Waihi Grand Junction Company is expected to take its place amongst the ranks pf the bullion producers, as the 4Q-stamp battery is now in course of erection. The figures for the various companies are as follows: Waihi: Total output to date, £3,817,----393; total for 1904, £643,997. Talisman Consolidated: Total QUtpnt to date, £317.786; total for 1904, £84,826 15/9. N.Z. Crown Mines: Total to date, £582,071; total to November (December to come), £32,002. Komata Reefs: Total to date, £140,----133; total for year,-£34,133. Waitekauri: Total to date, £371,675; one crushing this year, £4612 18/1. The total output from these five mines in the Ohinemuri County for 1904 therefore amounts to £799,570, with still a return to come in, while the total output to date is £5,229,055. WAIHI G.M. COMPANY. TOTAL OUTPUT FOR THE YEAR. INCREASES OF £13,516. The yearly returns from the Waihi iI.M. Company continue to increase, the total output for 1904 being""£G/3,997, an increase of £13.516 upon the output for 1903. which in turn was £ 128,967 ahead if the return for the previous year. The total output fuiirn the Waihi mine to date now amounts to £3,517,353, of which £1.552.896 has been distributed amongst shareholders. During 1904 no less than £300,000 was paid to shareholders from this mine. During the period from the previous crushing to the end of 1904, 14497 tons of ore were treated for a return of £31.741. The leading stope has been timbered a distance of 40 feet along the level, and is being prepared for timber on the hangingwall branch. No gold has been seen here yet. South of No. 2 crosscut No. 2 stope has been extended 9ft.. and has produced fair grade ore. No. 3 stope has also been extended 9ft.. and has produced ore of good quality, iv which strong blotches of gold have been seen at each breaking down. In the south end of this block a start has been made to rise on the reef, which is from two to three feet wicle. of fine-looking rubbry quartz. The battery has been kept runnine for the week on ore of very good tirade. [
