Attack on General Trepoff. ST. PETERSBURG, January 17. The ex-chief of police of Moscow (General Trepoff) was not injured in the attempt to him made by a student. A bullet passed through his cloak. The student who fired the shots sought to avenge his brother's expulsion from Moscow for having taken part in riots. FURTHER DEMONSTRATIONS. AIX TYPEWRITERS SEIZED. (Received 7.47 a.m.) ST. PETERSBURG, January 17. The Russian police are suppressing the means of seditious propaganda. They have even seized all typewriters at Romni and Poltava, on the ground that many pamphlets are typewritten and circulated among the people. The inhabitants of Kertch and Kherson have held a reform demonstration in defiUnee of the authorities.
