AMUSEMENTS.

yAnJETILLE AT HIS MAJESTY'S

The company of vaudeville artists which began an 11 nights' season at His Majesty's Theatre last night presented an excellent programme to a fair audience, and the various turns were received with every demonstration oft approval. The principal attractions of the company are Miss Lizzie Kirk. Mr. Frank Icon, and The Wheelers. These last are two clever trick cyclists, who do a great number of amazing things with a bicycle -which no ordinary man ever wants to do, but which it fascinates him to see others do, Inasmuch as they seem impossible and full of certain disaster. The Wheelers are extremely skilful, and there is a refreshing flavour of comedy provided by an unkempt tramp. One of the main sensations of their act last night was a remarkable somersault over a table. The cyclist rode the machine at abroad table, turned a complete forward somersault with it, and alighted tn tie machine on the other side, riding off amidst applause. The other sensation was termed "looping the great wheel," jh which one sees a cyclist within a 7' rt «l, which is lit up by variegated electric bulbs. The great wheel is set spuming, and the cyclist races at top speed against the 'motion, ultimately "emg carried backwards round the complete circle. This part of the performance created the sensation it was intended to. Miss Lizzie Kirk made her reappearance in Auckland in a budget of songs, "Marriage a la Mode." "My Sapenny Diary." "If She Only Knew." "a London's Beautiful'—songs mosttL V • smart ris 9 ue sort that sonie - and " h a bl ' oad Popuhmty.
