ENCOURAGING UTILITY ' POULTRY.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CaiRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The board of governors and directors of the Agricultural College were waited upon yesterday by a deputation from the committee appointed by the recent public meeting to inquire into the matter of holding an egg-laying competition. The deputation explained it was now proposed to form a utility poultry club, which would find the money for building the pens, the prize-money, etc., and see to receiving the birds and placing thera iv their pens They desired Ihe college to undertake the management and feeding of the birds, and to keep the necessary records.
