SWIMMING.
The New Year Swimming Carnhal which the Auckland Amateur Swimming Club were to have held in the Graving Dock last Saturday fell through for want of support by local swimmers. The season has been a very dull one so fax, which is no doubt due to the unseason-. , able weather which has prevailed. 4] few weeks ago the same club had to postpone a gala in the Albert-street Baths because.the attendance was toa small. 11. A. Creaghe. the ex-Dunedin swimmer, came second to D. Garley in th<s 220 yds championship of Queensland, Garley winning by five yards in 2m 49 2-5*3.
