DEATH OF A WOMAN.
A MAN ARRESTED,
SERIOUS CHARGE.

PALMERSTON NORTH, this day.
An elderly woman, Sophia Elderkin, restaurant-keeper, died suddenly yesterday morning. Subsequently Wm. Saunders, bricklayer, residing on the premises, was arrested on a charge of being concerned in her death, ft is alleged that- Sauriders had a dispute with the deceased on the sth inst., which ended in the woman falling heavily to the floor. She appeared unhurt at th<\ time, but later on complained of being ill, and died as stated. In Court this morning Saunders was charged with assaulting deceased, whereby her--death was caused. He was remanded till tomorrow, pending the result of an is* quest, which* is ■ proceeding this afternoon. « - ■'.•"
