ALLEGED BREAKING AND ENTERING.

ARREST AT WAD3LL. (By Telegraph -Own Correspondent.) WATHI, Wednesday. Edward Drurnmond Smith, manager of Mr. G. Mcßride's local tailoring branch, was arrested this morning on a charge of breaking and entering the premises of Hetherington and Co.'s drapery estab-• lishment on the 6th inst. wth inteut to commit a crime. On the day following the date mentioned Hetheriugton aud Co.'s manager (Mr. P. Brady) discovered that between the hours of closing ar.d reopening the shop the premises had bren entered, through a back window. The matter was placed in the hands of S?rr:t. Sheehan, and as a result of his investigation Smith was arrested. WAIHI, this day. E. D. Smith waa charged in the Police Court this morning before Messrs Moore and King, Justices, with breaking and entering the premises of the Hetherington Co. on the 6th inst. Serjeant Sheehan, in asking for a remand till Monday, stated that a more serious charge would probably be substituted, and asked for substantial bail. The Bench granted a remand and allowed bail, viz., two sureties at £50 and accused £100.
