At the Trades and Labour Council last evening ' the committee decided to carry out the programme not concluded in the Domain on Labour Day in the Federal Hall on Friday and Saturday of next week, the principal, items being the wrestling contest, tug-of-war, a cake walk, and other items.
The Newton Schools Committee met last evening. The headmasters' reports showed that the number of scholars on the roll of the.-Newton East School was 809, with an average attendance of 724 for the month of September last. Letters from the Board of Education regarding ' the. removal and -appointments of teachers to the schools received the attention .of-fh« committee. . .
