Remanded: John D'Esmonde. who was charged with the theft of a pair of gas tongs, the property of the Auckland Gas Company, was remanded for a -week Chief Detective Mareack explaining that there was tt- possibility of other charge; being brought. An Unlicensed Gab-driver: A fine of 10/ and costs was imposed on Thomas Bowdcn for permitting an unlicensed man to drive one of his hansom cabs. A Neighbour's Quarrel: A complaint against Mary Williams for using provoking and insulting language was brought by Margaret Davidson. The parties were neighbours, and lived in Onehunga. Mrs. Wililams was represented by Mr. Lundon, while Mr. Singer appeared for Mrs. Davidson. The magistrate, after hearing the evidence, was of the opinion that Mrs. Williams had used-'the,, words,, andj. tlrcrefom, ordered that she t>e boujijivover "to keep the peace, and not to repeat "the offence, for a period of six months} as well .as ordering her £6 pay the costs "of. the ease.
