Commodore AdigarJ. of the French man-of-war Protet, has decided to prolong his stay in this port to enable his officers to see the wonders of tbe thermal district. The warship will not leave for Noumea until Thursday, and several of the officers will go to Rotorua on Monday, returning on Wednesday evening. To-night the Commodore and his officers 'will be the principal guests at the French Consul's reception in the Grand HoteL

Mr. James Kirker, general manager of

the South British Insurance Company, who recently underwent the severe operation for appendicitis, is now able to get about with ease, and he expects to be so far recovered next week as to be able to resume business. Mr. Khker attended the flower show yesterday afternoon. This quick recovery will please and relieve his friends very much.
