AN OTAGO WELCOME. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Sunday. <r_e Governor (Lord Plunket) reached Dunedin by special train yesterday. He was accompanied by Lady Plunket a _d the Hnn. Miss Plunkel. The Premier al so arrived by the same train. On arrival at the railway station the Governor wa s met by the Mayor (Mr Chrstie) and the city councillors, and presented with an address of welcome on behalf of the citizens, which was duly acknowledged. The vice-regal Dar'ty proceding nor/h as far as Fred-griek-sfreet. At Knox Church His Excellency received an address of welcome from the Presbyterian Church, the •p e v. J. Chisholm. moderator of the Dunedin Presbytery, presenting it. The re"al party then drove through George and Princes streets to the Grand Hotel, where they are staying. The whole line of route was lined with spectator?, who turned out in thous«andf and warmly welcomed the new Governor, while the Premier was also cordially received. There was a fair musfT of volunteers and cadets to form _ e ;;coi't and line the streets, the ordnance branch mustering 231, Hie rifles 551. and cadets 1001, making a total of 1948. His Excellency witnessed the march past, and expressed himself as very phased with the turn out and genem! appearance of the volunteers and cadets. _ Tn the evening the Governor was entertained at d'nner by the members of the Fernhill Club.
