CRICKET.

The feat of scoring four separate hundreds in an innings is very rarely accomplished, even in these days of hard wickets and loose fielding; ia fact, there are only six instances of th* performances being accomplished ii England, three times in first-clasi cricket and three in matches of leu importance. Dr. W. G. Grace has never made "a pair" in a first-class match, but he only just managed to miss the doubtful honour in the contest between London County and the South African team. His scores were 0 and 1. G. H. Hirst's benefit match, Yorkshire v. Lancashire, at Leeds, drew £2924 gate-money. It is expected that subscriptions will bring the amount up to £3500. The King takes a vast amount ot interest in cricket, and recently a new ground at Windsor Castle was opened. The Prince of Wales's and Prince Christian's elevens are reputed to have a Trumper and a Bosanquet. It is stated that the proposal to play the test matches in England out to a finish is likely to meet with opposition from Yorkshire, Surrey, and Lancashire.
