THE GOLDFIELDS.

a -. ON 'CHANGE. One of those sudden advances indicative of the condition of business on the Exchange took place this morning. Yesterday, for the first time since the New Moanataiari Company was re-formed, inquiries were made for shares at 4d, but holders asked 9d. This morning a strong demand set in, and sales of good parcels were made from 1/3 to 1/9, with further buyers at 1/6. It is understood that the crushing at present proceeding is shaping well, and also that good stone is being got by tributers, who are working near where the company is carrying on operations. The latter rumour is, however, not official. Mahara Royal shares changed hands at 5d and 6id. Talisman Consolidated shares maintained the rise noted yesterday, and Waihi Extended shares again sold at 7/6, with further buyers at a penny under that figure. Free transactions took place in Pride of Waihi shares at 1/, and more could have been placed at the same price. Bunker's Hill shares sold at 2/8 and 2/9, and Old Hauraki contributing issue at 2/8. On account of the football match to-day, only one call was held, and that was at 10 a.m., consequently standard stocks were not gone over. OLD HAURAKI. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) COROMANDEL, this day. There was considerable excitement here when it became known that Legge's reef had been intersected -about 30ft from the slide, which cut it off when the old company was conducting operations. It was picked up about half way between the 200 ft and 300 ft level, and is a fine compact t-eef about 6in wide, and looks very promising, likely to make gold any time. At the slide it produced very rich stone, and the conditions are favourable for such occurring again. The present discovery is a most important one. BUNKER'S HILL. (By Telegraph.—Own Corveapondent.) COROMANDEL, this day. Excellent reports continue to come from this mine. The 4in leader was broken down last Wednesday, when 41b of specimens were secured. Mr G. A. Stubbs received a telegram from the manager of the Bunker's Hilt mine stating, in answer to a query, that he had no intention to Break I down to-day. __ A RBM A BJ_BT. j TO-DAY'S QUOTATIONS.
