BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ■WAIHI .this day. The Wailii Coudol held its usual fortnightly meeting last evening, tiie Xtayor (Mr Gilmour) presiding. Mr U. Vesey Stewart wrote asking Uie Council to m-ousider its decision re not grunting portion of the local gold duty towards the maintenance of the Katikaii-Kowtiitown-Tauraiifra Road. With reference to a loan of £600 on account of the proposed gas works, the National Bank suggested that the loan should be era-nted as a separate amount under the name "Gas works special loan account," repayable at not less than £500 per annum. The National Book's recommendation re tfce -as works loan was accepted. The Ohlnemuri County Council demanded tie sum of £65S 12/3 for road maintenance in June. Referred to the Legal Commtttee. The Finance Committee reported that £645 15/4 had been passed for pay-; ment of ordhiary accounts and £3348 12/2 on waterworks account. The total debit was £7572 19A and the credit oa waterwerk* loan account waa £3766 1/5.
