CBy Telegraph—Press Association-) BATE WAE IN TIMBER TRADE. HOKITIKA, this day. Matters in connection with the West Coast timber trade promise to culminate in a war of rates. The majority of the associated mills are idle, while the unassociated sawmills continue to cut below the association prices. For their mutual protection it now seems likely that the association mills will substantially reduce their prices below the pre.seJit minimum. This will probably bring- about a keen struggle extending over several months. FOUND DEAD. HOKITIKA, this day. An old age pensioner was found dead in his hut at Waitahia Bluff. TIMARU, Sunday. An elderly wharf lumper named Daniel Falla was jammed by a sling of timber on the s.s. Kittawa last night, and had his thigh broken.
