In this locality the milk supply has held well up so far, there being fully 1700 gallons per day here. Tests are very high, the average for last week being fully 4.7, the larger suppliers Laving the highest tests. The cheques for the mouth of March were £1100. thus showing that there has been a ijood autumn milking yield. This company are puttiug down a well that is estimated to hold 12,000 to 15,000 gallous. There is a considerable area of turnips aud hap ciops, and an increased quantity of ensilage made, farmers fully recognising the need of winter feed for dairy cows. One farmer here has gone iv for testing his cows systematically. He has weighed all the milk every day, and had the cows tested at the factory, with the result that some of them show a return of over 3'j.rj lbs butter fat, vvnile others are not likely to reach 200 lbs butter fat. Thise method shows fairly considerably what cows pay and which requires paying. All this herd are ordinary cows, without auy breeding in particular, and with a moderate amount of culling, v. ould pay haudsomi'ly.
