A house at Hill Park, Taotaoroa, the property of Mr. John Brown, farmer, was burnt to the ground about mid- ! ni<rht. Mr. Brown and bis two men retired about 9.30 pjn., when everything 1 seemed safe. A man named Smith ' was awakened by smoke, and with difficulty he roused the others. It was a bachelor establishment, but tools and furniture were lost to the value of £50.
