A CONSTABLE KILLED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CARTERTON, this day. Constable Smith, in a gig to visit Gladstone, was found on the road in a semi-conscious condition, the gig being capsized. Smith told Mr Granti the mailman, who found him, that he was all right, and the latter after covering Smith from the rain hurried for medical assistance. Later on Mr Grace, of Gladstone found Smith dead. Mr Grant and the doctor had not then arrived. Constable Smith was highly respected. He leaves a wife and ! a large family.
